The 12 week course runs from September through Dec and January through May. The rehearsals take place at Complete Music Studios in Prospect Heights and are two hours long. The sessions will culminate with a performance at The Bell House in Gowanus at the end of each semester.

On day one, we will begin with a meet and greet followed by organizing the students into bands of specific genres, taking into account each one’s chief interest. Students will be asked to make suggestions as to song selection and the instructors will recommend songs as well. Original songs are definitely encouraged, and considered on an individual basis by each band. Chord charts for the songs will be written with the guidance of the instructors. On the upcoming sessions, the focus will remain on learning the songs and individual parts. The charts will eventually be removed so that students learn to commit the songs to memory. Finally, a band name is chosen by each group.

Because there is more time to prepare for the show, the students will be asked to do more preparation at home. The teachers also have more time to stretch out and examine the individual parts more carefully with the students. The final sessions will be dedicated to refining the arrangements and adding the performance element. The elements of performance are incorporated into the final rehearsals, and everyone gets to ROCK OUT at the concert!
